Mr. Charlie James Goss, 91, of Elberton, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Goss was born in Lakehurst, New Jersey on September 10, 1927, son of the late Robert Emile Goss and Lillie Amarintha Maxwell Goss. He retired after 28 years of service as a machinist from Westinghouse. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple and Philomathea Masonic Lodge #25. Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his children: Kim Goss Scoggins and her husband Greg of Carlton, Tim Goss and his wife Susan of Clarkesville, and Linda Root of Indiana; sisters: Jackie Harris of Bowman and Marilene Moon and her husband Kenneth of Toccoa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addiiton to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Nell Moon Goss; his wife of 16 years, Margaret Sherlin Campbell Goss; son, Jim Thompson; and brother, George Goss.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 6, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday evening.
