Mr. Alfred ‘Virgil’ Caldwell, 81, of Centerville Road, Lexington, husband of 57 years to Beverly Jean Pulliam Caldwell, entered into rest on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his residence.
Born and raised in Oglethorpe County, Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Henry Caldwell and Annie Laurie Willoughby Caldwell; brother, Larry Caldwell, and sister, Mary Herndon. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. Virgil loved his family, gardening, farming, music and laughing with his many friends. He retired from Elberton Mills as a weaver.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Beverly, include his children: Marlon (Billie Jo) Caldwell of Lexington, Brandon Caldwell of Lexington, and Trevor (Kara) Caldwell of Buford; grandchildren: Courtney (Jeff) Lee, Brooklyn Caldwell, and Harper Caldwell; brothers: Bobby Caldwell of Tignall and Johnny Caldwell of Carlton; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services celebrating Virgil’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 12, at 3 o’clock at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Seymour and Derek Paul officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00-2:45p.m. at the church prior to the service.
