Alma Brannen Sanders

Mrs. Alma Wynona Brannen Sanders, age 100, formerly of Highland Drive, Elberton, GA, passed away at her daughter’s residence in Canton, GA on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Portal, GA on February 12, 1918, daughter of the late Andrew and Beulah Bragg Brannen, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Sanders, Sr. She was owner/operator of Sanders’ Grocery on N. McIntosh Street in Elberton for over 50 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elberton.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her son, Jeff and Debra Sanders of Starr, SC; daughter, Sue Flowers of Canton, GA; brother, Andrew Brannen of Savannah, GA; sister, Ruth Bargeron of Louisville, GA; four grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 1, from 1:00-1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00p.m. in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
