Alton Lawrence Fleming

Mr. Alton Lawrence Fleming, 75, of W. Ginn Street, Bowman, husband of 39 years to Connie Annette Teasley Fleming, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Alton was born in Elbert County on January 25, 1948, son of the late Thomas Albert Fleming, Sr. and Virgie Gertrude Fuller Fleming. Among many other jobs throughout the years, he worked at Elberton Mills and later retired as a top polisher from Southern Mausoleums. Alton enjoyed loud cars and music, and loved his family and friends dearly. He will be remembered for his ability to make many laugh and smile with his southern comedic charm.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Connie, include his son, Michael Geirrein and his wife Typhany of Covington; daughters: Katie Fleming of Bowman and Audrey Segars of Hartwell; grandchildren: Cody Geirrein, Angelina Geirrein, Seth Geirrein, Katriena Segars, and Charleston Segars; siblings: Aubrey Fleming and his wife Dianne of Elberton, Amelia Seymour and her husband Billy of Bowman, and Alberta Cox, wife of the late Julian Cox, of Laurens, SC; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gayle Fleming of High Point, NC.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, from 10:00-10:45a.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Adams will officiate and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman. Pallbearers will include Brian Teasley, Charles Teasley, Josh Teasley, Marc Fleming, Timmy Evans, and Virgil Seymour, and honorary pallbearers will include Michael Geirrein, Charleston Segars, and John Fleming.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, in honor of his wife.
