Anna Lynette Purvis

Anna Purvis, age 31, danced into the arms of Jesus around 11:30 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022 while she was surrounded by her loving and devoted family.  She is now in the presence of her Jesus, no longer having to sign His name by showing where the nails pierced His hands.  As she took her final breath on earth, those same nail pierced hands gave her a hug as beautiful and as pure as she was and welcomed Anna into her eternal home.

She enjoyed the simple things in life that many take for granted; and it was in the simplicity of her life that God used Anna to remind others to enjoy the moment you are in. Whether it was to slow down and listen to a bird sing or by simply watching a balloon fade into the distance— Anna never missed an opportunity to share her joy of life with others.

Anna’s legacy will live on as those who knew her remember her legendary hugs.  Not only did she hug those she loved, she also offered hugs to those who she felt needed one— even strangers.  Anna’s love for others knew no bounds because what she offered from her heart was love in its purest form.  She loved without judgment or reservation, she simply loved.

Anna loved Jesus.  With certainty she knew Him personally and in a way that cannot be comprehended.  She attended church with her family at FBC Elberton.  When she would walk into church she would always look for the church’s nativity scene because she was always looking for Jesus.

Some of her happiest days were when she gained brothers and became an aunt.  Anna loved her sisters immensely, but they were demoted the day they brought home Stephen and Jason to become her brothers, and when they gave her nieces and nephews to love.

Anna was a 2013 graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School where she was given a standing ovation by the entire stadium as she walked across the stage.  However, in recent years she had become one of Hart County Bulldogs’ biggest fans.

She loved her friends and family, but she also loved animals (especially horses and elephants), music, and balloons.  More importantly, she loved her baby, old people, powdered doughnuts, and Diet Coke.

Anna was fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.  We should all love Jesus, love others, and love life like Anna did.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, E.D. and Lula Belle Mitchell, and Chester Purvis; and Baby Hart.

Survivors include her parents, Reverend Gary and Margaret Purvis; two sisters, Elizabeth Hill and husband Stephen of Charlotte, North Carolina and Courtney Hart and husband Jason of Dewy Rose; nieces and nephews, Hailey Hill, and Carson, Cameron, and Caroline Hart; grandmother, Jean Purvis of Ruston, Louisiana; aunts and uncles, Barbara Kees, Donovan and Barbara Mitchell, Veronica and Keith Gregory, Janet Johnston, Bob and Karen Purvis, and Alan and Sharon Purvis.  She is also survived by her Papa Henry and Mama B Drennan of Dewy Rose; many cousins; and countless friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-8:00 PM Monday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Elberton.

A celebration of Anna’s life and the love she has shown others will take place at 3:00 PM Tuesday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Elberton with Pastor Tim Adams officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Stephen Hill, Jason Hart, Donovan Mitchell, Rusty Mitchell, Bob Purvis, Randy Lane, Carson Hart, and Cameron Hart.
