Mrs. Annie Ruth Gunter Mattox, 93, of Lexington, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Mattox was born in Washington, Georgia, daughter of the late Soloman “Sol”and Lucy Standridge Gunter.She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Parks Mattox; two sons, Wilbur Gene and John A. Mattox; a son-in-law, Gaines Hall; a daughter-in-law, Zelma Mattox; a brother, Sam Gunter; and two grandchildren, Kevin Mattox and Miranda Mattox. Mrs. Mattox is survived by her daughter, Martha Nell Hall; three sons: Milton Monroe Mattox, Ray Mattox, and Morris Mattox; and seven grandchildren: Morris “Tony” Mattox, Gregory Allen Mattox, Charlotte Ann Williams, Laura Jeneine Bond, Andrew Parks Mattox, Sarah Leanne Johnson, and Joshua Paul Mattox.She also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren:Brittany Shellnut, Christy Phillips, Eli Mattox, Cooper Mattox, Lauren Weaver, Stephanie Mattox, Candice Weaver, Justin Mattox, Emily Mattox, Ansley Mattox, Parker Mattox, Ethan Johnson, Samantha Johnson, and Jeremiah Johnson. A service to celebrate Mrs. Mattox’s life was held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Al Butler officiating.A time of visitation began at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service.Interment followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements for Mrs. Annie Ruth Mattox were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
