Annie Ruth Brown Rice

Annie Ruth Brown Rice, 96, of 270 North Broad Street, Bowman, widow of Ralph Carlis Rice, Sr., passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Elbert Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hart County, August 7, 1915 to the late Roland Jefferson Brown and Annie Laura Richardson Brown. She was a member of the Bowman Methodist Church and retired from Wright Manufacturing Company with 27 years of service. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Ralph (& Barbara) Rice of Bowman; Kenny Rice of Bowman; Billy (& Pat) Rice of Elberton; Joyce Chastain of Elberton; and Jean (& Kenneth) Seymour of Elberton. 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Beth Anderson & Alice Dye; and her brothers & sisters - Luke Brown, Bill Brown, George Brown, Hailey Brown, Newt Brown, Jule Brown, Cecil Brown and Lizzie Teasley. Graveside services celebrating her life will be held Thursday, October 13, 4 PM at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman with Rev. Doug Brown and Brannon Rice officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family is at the home of Kenny Rice in Bowman and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Thursday, from 2-3:30 PM.
