Mrs. Annie Ruth Harris Richardson, 85, of Athens Highway, Elberton, wife of Charles Woodford Richardson, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Elberton on September 16, 1935, daughter of the late William Ogburn Harris and Mary Lou Sorrow Harris. She was retired from the Elbert County School System Food Service Department where she was a cafeteria worker at Elbert County High School. She was a member of Doves Creek Baptist Church and attended Dewy Rose Baptist Church. Annie Ruth will be remembered as a devoted friend who was always willing to extend a helping hand, especially through the gift of food.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Woodford Richardson of the residence; siblings and their spouses: Estelle and Troy Colquitt and Pete and Merileen Harris, all of Elberton; daughter-in-law, Lisa Butler Richardson of Elberton; sister-in-law, Carol Looney Harris of Elberton; step-grandchild, Stephanie Langol, her husband John, and their children Jack and Sam, all of Pittsburg, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only child and the light of her life, Charles Stephen “Steve” Richardson on January 17, 2021; and her brother, Henry Harris.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, July 7, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
