Annie Ruth Lunsford Holmes

Mrs. Annie Ruth Lunsford Holmes, 99, of Dewy Rose, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Spring Valley Nursing Home, Elberton GA.

Born on March 12, 1922 in Elberton GA, she was the daughter of the late Seab H. Lunsford and Martie Burden Lunsford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church. She also helped her husband farm and raise cattle.

Survivors include her sister: Sallie Seymour of Elberton. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband: Bodie Holmes; three brothers: Henry Lunsford, Lindsay Lunsford, Hester Lunsford; four sisters: Beulah Sinclair, Estelle Greenway, Dorothy Lewis and Mary White.

Mrs. Holmes will lie in state at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday for anyone to come by and pay their respects. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at their respective homes. Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and mask are optional.

A Celebration of Annie Ruth’s life will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021at 2:00 in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Burial will be in the Holmes Family Cemetery.
