Atlas Sawyer Dowdy

Baby Boy Atlas Sawyer Dowdy, age 4 months, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Lavonia on June 22, 2020, son of Matthew David Dowdy and Samantha Rachel Sullivan Dowdy. Sawyer was the worlds happiest baby. He loved absolutely everything and was rarely upset. You could just look at him and he would smile, a smile that would melt your heart. He was only on this earth for a short period of time but he brought his whole family joy. We called him Soybean. His brother Elliot loved giving him kisses, brushing his hair, and giving him his bottle. They were 11 and a half months apart and they were supposed to grow up together and be best friends.

In addition to his parents and brother, he is survived by his grandparents, Carmen Porterfield and Matthew Herschel Dowdy. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Angela McLane and James David Sullivan, II.

He shouldn't be gone right now. Words cannot describe how much we will miss him. Theres nothing in this world that can fill the Soybean sized hole in our hearts. We can't wait to see you in heaven baby boy, I just know your Grandma is holding you in heaven while we can't. 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 13, at 11 o’clock at Elmhurst Cemetery.
