Barbara Alice Coloney

Barbara Alice Coloney 80, of Elberton, Georgia (formerly of Broadalbin, New York) passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Amsterdam, New York on November 21, 1931, the daughter of Allan and Janet Cole of Mayfield, New York. She graduated as valedictorian from Mayfield High School in 1949. In 1951 she married Richard M. Coloney of Broadalbin and lived there until 1994 when they retired to Elberton, Georgia where he passed away in 2005. Barbara worked for many years as a partner in her husband’s business, M. Coloney & Son Plumbing of Broadalbin and was later employed as executive assistant at Hussmann Manufacturing in Gloversville, New York. In retirement she enjoyed her pets, crafts, card clubs and her passion for yard sales. She is survived by a brother, William L. Cole of Mayfield, New York; her sons, Patrick and Richard Coloney of Conyers, Georgia; her daughter Lynn Brosch (James) of South Lake Tahoe, California and a granddaughter, Allison Ruggiero of Denver, Colorado. There will be a private graveside service held at the convenience of the family in Broadalbin, New York.
