Barbara Jean Herndon

Mrs. Barbara Jean Nash Herndon, 76, of Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, wife of 48 years to the late Milton Herndon, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Herndon was born in Elbert County on June 4, 1940, daughter of the late Towns F. and Edna Louise Webb Nash. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel E Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Karen Johnson and her husband Jamie of Elberton; son, Keith Herndon and his wife Avonne of Athens; grandsons: Matthieu Johnson and his wife Ashley and Dillon Johnson and his wife Erica as well as their son on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by siblings: Myrtle Fleming and Jerrol Nash.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 2 o’clock in the Bethel E Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Interment will follow in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Herndon will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00p.m. on Wednesday evening.
