Barbara Jean Johnson Kellum

Mrs. Barbara Jean Johnson Kellum, 91, of Cleveland Street, Elberton, wife of 53 years to the late George Kenneth Kellum, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side. 

One of ten children, Barbara was born in Thomson on February 13, 1932, daughter of the late Sterling Smith Johnson and Beulah McGahee Johnson. She was a retired monumental draftsperson and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener who prided herself in keeping her yards immaculate. The apples of her eye were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Kellum Jordan of Lawrenceville; granddaughters: Missy Gore of Hoschton and Lindsey Williams of Cumming; great-grandchildren: Witt, Charlie, Knox, Nora, and Nash; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

At Barbara’s request, a graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 7, at 2:00p.m. in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. 

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc., to assist the special needs children of Elbert County, 1027 Micliff Drive, Elberton, GA 30635.
