Mr. Benjamin Turner, 89, of Lexington Road, Carlton, GA husband of Aleen Gunter Turner passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014. Mr. Turner was born July 3, 1925 in the Glade Community to the late Benjamin Albert Turner and Winnie Mae Butler Turner. He was a member of Glade Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII as a radio operator. He spent his working career with the U.S. Postal Service where he was postmaster in Glade for 7 years before transferring to Atlanta in the Airmail Department at the airport for 23 years where he served as the supervisor for the last 10 years before his retirement after 30 years of service. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of the home Aleen Gunter Turner; daughter and son-in-law Winnie and Johnny Tiller and one grandyoungen Billy Tiller. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Monday, September 8, at 11AM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Cemetery with Herman Hart, Jake Carlton, Dale Porterfield, Gerald Mann, Doug Alexander and Ronnie Turner serving as pallbearers. The family is at the home 1867 Lexington Road, Carlton, GA and will receive friends from 7-9PM Sunday night at Berry Funeral Home.
