Bernice Smith Hodges

Mrs. Bernice Smith Hodges, 64, of Carlton, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. A native of Dublin, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Ioma Weehunt Smith.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by siblings, Tommy Smith, Delaine Bedingfield and Dorothy Ursery.Mrs. Hodges was a homemaker but also worked outside the home as a cashier at Tom’s Place.Her hobbies were traveling, eating meals out and her Grandchildren!She attended Burts Chapel UMC. Survivors include her husband of over 47 years, John Wesley Hodges; children and their spouses, Marianne Thomas (Jason), of Ormand Beach, Florida, Kelly Hodges (Mark Henderson) of Carlton and Jonathan Hodges (Carrie), of Blackshear, Georgia; grandchildren, Kirstie Thomas, Lewis Hodges and Harper Hodges; Brothers, Rod Smith, Danny Smith and Sister, Shirley Tomlinson. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 19th at 2:00pm in Burts Chapel UMC with Rev. Anne Hansen officiating.Interment followed in the church cemetery with Mark Henderson, Jason Thomas, Jared Williford, Cody Prussia, Hunter Prussia and David Prussia serving as pallbearers.A time of visitation was held on Tuesday evening at Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hodges memory to Relay for Life.
