Bessie Ruth Roberts

Mrs. Bessie Ruth Roberts, 98, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016, at her grandson's home in Elberton.

Born on August 29, 1918, in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late William Charlie Broadwell and Lena "Nena" Minery Ellison Broadwell. She was a retired waitress.

Surviving are her daughter, Priscilla Smith of Elberton; grandchildren and their spouses: Marc and Dena Rhodes, Angie and Marcus Bonds, Jonathan and Machana Rhodes, Jerri Floyd, and Quinn and Tammy Floyd, all of Elberton; daughter-in-law, Kay J. Rhodes of Elberton; brother, George and Mozelle Broadwell of Anderson, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands: Elmer Gaines and the Rev. Dr. Francis Eugene Roberts; son, Alvin C. "Butch" Rhodes; and siblings: Marvin Broadwell, Walter Broadwell, Barnie Broadwell, Charlie Broadwell, Jr., Thomas Broadwell, and Mary Elizabeth Nixon.
