Mrs. Beth Thomason Lakis, 53, a native of Elberton and a resident of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 2, 2014 in Rogers. Beth was born in Austell, Georgia to Mr. James M. Thomason and the late Barbara Rousey Thomason. She and her husband, Dave Lakis, celebrated over 21 years of marriage and have two daughters, Hannah and Meredith, all of Rogers. Beth was a graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School and earned a degree in Dental Hygiene from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Beth was a mother to many and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, boating, sewing and re-purposing.She was also a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Beth could be described by many as a gregarious, smiling-all-of-the-time,“bless your heart” kind of woman. Beth is survived by her husband, David Emmanuel Lakis, and two daughters, Hannah and Meredith Lakis, all of Rogers;her father, James Thomason of Elberton;and her sister, Margie Milner of Elberton. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg and Karen Lakis of Boston, Geoff and Amy Lakis of Baltimore, and Jim and Deb Lakis of S. Williamsport, PA; and her father-in law, George Lakis of Lewisburg, PA. Beth also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and numerous other extended family members whom she dearly loved. A memorial service to celebrate Beth’s life was held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 with Rev. John Sexton officiating. This service was at 11:00 a.m. in the old sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Elberton, where Beth and Dave were married 21 years ago.A time of visitation for family and friends began at 9:30 a.m. just prior to the service. A memorial service was also held Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 in Rogers at the Central United Methodist Church with Benton County Funeral Home handling those arrangements.
