Mrs. Betsy Heard Wigglesworth, age 86, a lifelong resident of Elbert County passed away Friday, February 5, 2010. She was a longtime member of Elberton First United Methodist Church. She was adored by many and touched numerous lives; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was also involved in many charities includingThomas H. Wigglesworth College Scholarship Fund through The Kiwanis Club, Safe Inc, the Historical Society,K-9 Rescue, Friends of the Library, the Book Review Club,Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, Arbor Day, St. Jude andSafe House Ministries Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hudson Wigglesworth. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence McCrary and Carla Le Fever of Danielsville, and Tom and Terry Wigglesworth of Vienna, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Tom Russell of Cartersville, Judy and Bob Wilson of Warren, OR, and Jody Osteen of Bluffton, SC; and special caregiver, Thomas Wright of Elberton. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survives. Memorial Services for Mrs. Betsy Wigglesworth will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2PM in the Hicks Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jack McVeigh will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elbert County Historical Society or the Elbert County Library. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
