Mrs. Betty Joan Edwards Brooks Edmunds, 91, of Sam Tate Road, Elberton, GA widow of the late Robert C. "Preacher Brooks" passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.
Betty was born in Wilkes County, GA January 4, 1930 to Jim Frank Edwards and Daisy Worthen Edwards. Betty was the one-time owner of the Alteration Shop in Elberton, GA. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Elberton and a member of the Altar Guild. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Elberton. A cancer survivor, she was also active in the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Betty is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Crump of Hartwell and Frances Dyson of Washington; her husband Richard Edmunds of Thomson, her children Stephanie (Darrell) Stewart of Crawfordville, Cynthia (Jamie) Agbayani of Dumfries, VA, Marc (Kathy) Brooks of Elberton and Marianne Brooks of Baldwin, grandchildren Sophie Tagama of Ewa, HI, Rita Agbayani of Newark, DE, Lance Agbayani of Bettendorf, IA, Dale Agbayani of Portland, OR, Heather (Chris) Kilgore of Woodbridge, VA, Kara (Kurk) Landrum of Baldwin, GA and Melissa Almond of Elberton, GA, great0grandchildren: Thaddius and Thorin Kilgore, Caryna Agbayani, Celestyna Agbayani, Bryce Agbayani, Jazlyn Agbayani, Daniel Tagama, Kaiya Landrum, Oliver Landrum, Alexandra Agbayani, Sophie Agbayani, Lance Agbayani, Jr., Daniel Tagama, Cori Koshimizu, Cullen Koshimizu, Hunter Maxwell, Hannah Brogden and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family has requested the memorials be made in her memory to Elbert County Library, 345 Heard St. Elberton, GA 30635.
