William James Cloer, 74, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
The son of the late Grady Lee Cloer and Helen Short Cloer, Bill attended the University of Georgia where he lettered in football, playing from ’62 to ’65. After graduation, he served his country in the Army during Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star Medal. After his service, Bill returned home to Georgia and coached high school football for thirty years with Elbert County High School and Redan High School.
Bill is survived by his son, Trent Cloer, daughter-in-law Mary Katherine, and three grandchildren: Tyler, Molly Kate, and Cody Cloer. He is also survived by a brother, Winston Cloer.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 2, at 2:30 pm at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Oconee Hill Sexton House.
