Bill Harvell, Sr.

Mr. William A. "Bill" Harvell, Sr., 85, of Carey Street, Elberton, GA passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at his home.

Mr. Harvell was born on February 15, 1933, in Elberton, GA to James Denver Harvell, Sr. and Lois Rebecca Tyner Harvell. He was a member of Elberton Church of God, a U.S. Army Veteran, and was a retired deputy from the Elbert County Sheriff's Department.

He is survived by his son, William Harvell, Jr. of Elberton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Danny Leard of Elberton, GA; siblings: Barbara Jean Hart of Jacksonville, FL and Margaret Balchin of Ninety-Six, SC; and grandchildren: Blake and Amber Leard of Elberton, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Gaines Harvell; brothers: James Harvell, Dupree Harvell; and grandson, William “Little Billy” Harvell, III.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 3PM, Saturday, June 16, at the Elberton Church of God with Rev. James Gunn officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Billy Harvell, Jr., Danny Leard, Blake Leard, Tyron Yeargin, Randy Saxon and Marshall Leard serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1-3PM just before the service Saturday at Elberton Church of God.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to please make memorials in Bill’s memory to the Elberton Church of God.
