Mr. Billy Lanier Christian, 72, of Christian Road, Dewy Rose GA, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at Piedmont Hospital – Atlanta.

Born on May 28, 1951 in Royston GA, he was the son of the late Early Buesse Christian and Ruby Jane Bryant Christian.  In his early adult years, he was a Brick Mason, later retired from The City of Elberton Water Department with over 25 years of service.  Mr. Christian was a member of the Hartwell Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran.

Billy will always be remembered for his kind heart, sweet personality, service to others, and love for all animals. Strongly patriotic, he was proud to be an American.  Billy’s love for Varsity Chilidogs, Coca-Colas and Reese Cups only paled in comparison to his love for his family and pets.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Chitwood Christian, four daughters: Laura Pullen (Jeremy) of Tignall GA, Brandy Lovelace (Jamie) of Bowersville GA, Laurie Lunsford (Andy) of Colbert GA and Heather Keating (Jason) of Athens GA; a sister: Pauline Scott (Bill) of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Liv Lovelace, Logan Lovelace, Sydney McIntosh (Dalton), Carson Pullen, Avery Pullen, Nathan Keating, Landon Keating, Kristin Lunsford and Jordan Bentley (Justin) and three great-grandchildren: Lucy Mae McIntosh, Carson Power and Carlie Power also survive.  Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Obie Guy Christian and a sister: Joanne Brown.

The family received friends Monday, February 12, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Christian were Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Brother Tom Hodgins officiating.  Burial was in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Granite Country Animal Partners, (GCAP), 4928 Elberton Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell was in charge of all arrangements.
