Billy Thomas Boles, Sr

Mr. Billy Thomas Boles, Sr., 94, of Oak Drive, Elberton, husband of 67 years to Janice Elizabeth Gunter Boles, finished his course in faith on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Boles was born in Elberton on June 1, 1924, son of the late Allen Thomas Boles and Liza Allen Young Boles. He was a self-employed brickmason and a Methodist by faith. Billy proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star.


Left to cherish his memories are his children: Dianne Boles Singleton and her husband Art of Marietta, Judy Boles Vaughn and her husband Bobby of Elberton, and Billy Thomas Boles, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Acworth; grandchildren: Chris Steedly and his wife Brooke, Brendi Diehl and her husband Chris, Lee Vaughn and his wife Hope, Lindsay Johnson and her husband Clay, and Drew Boles; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Boles; son-in-law, Hampton Broadus Steedly, Jr.; and siblings: Mildred Boles Gunter, Willene Boles Boswell, and Carl E. Boles.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 25, at 11 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Inurnment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with military honors.

The family is at their respective residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 10-10:45a.m. on Saturday morning.
