Bobby Doyle Mills

Mr. Bobby Doyle Mills, 72, of Jaudon Road, Elberton, husband of 47 years to Joyce Ann Yeargin Mills, finished his course in faith on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mills was born in Elbert County on February 18, 1942, to the late Joseph Jackson "Jack" and Lurleen Chandler Mills. He attended Forest Hill Assembly of God. Bobby was a dedicated Fireman for the City of Elberton Fire Department where he retired after 35 years of service. Mr. Mills was also an employee of Hicks Funeral Home in Elberton where he served his community as a funeral assistant for over 10 years. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of the home; siblings: Ray Mills, Jean Ruff, and Vera Carroll, all of Elberton, Frances Sherard of Belton, SC, and Doris Blevins of Anderson, SC; mother-in-law, Mattie Lou Yeargin of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Mills. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, October 26, at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Ann Reynolds and Philip Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Gerry Carroll, Randall Ruff, Randy Ruff, Nelson Vickery, Bill Yeargin, and Randy Lane honored as pallbearers. Current and former Fireman with the City of Elberton and Elbert County Fire Departments are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and should report to the funeral home no later than 2:30p.m. on Sunday. The family is at the residence of Jean Ruff on Joru Drive in Elberton and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Saturday evening.
