Bonnie Lynn Cox

Miss Bonnie Lynn Cox, 56, of Elberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Bonnie was born in Torrance, CA on September 25, 1965, the youngest of four daughters born to Dewey Wayne Cox and Dollie Florine Dickerson Cox. She attended school at Blackwell Elementary, from which she graduated. The baby of the family, Bonnie was spoiled rotten and wanted for absolutely nothing.

She was Elvis’s biggest fan and looked forward to watching her Elvis movies each week. Her large collection of his CDs and DVDs were kept in a special order, and she was always sure to correct you if you put them in the wrong order. An avid UNO player, Bonnie found great amusement in winning nearly every game she played. Bonnie’s sense of humor and her ability to always say what others were usually thinking will forever be remembered.

Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart, with a special love of her niece, Kristie Harvell Capps, who lovingly cared for Bonnie. Bonnie especially enjoyed trips to McDonalds and Dairy Queen to get a chocolate milk shake with a cherry on top.

She is survived by her sisters: Beverly and Keith Haws of Mesquite, TX, Barbara and Darrell Moon of Elberton, and Brenda and George Willoughby of Elberton; nieces and nephews: Shane and Kelley Moon of Elberton, Derrick and Jennifer Moon of Elberton, Chad and Shelly Willoughby of Canon, Missy and Shane Poss of Buchanan, and Kristie Capps of Elberton; and aunts: Dorothy Parkman of Elberton, Ernestine Dickerson of Elberton, and Marnell and Gerald Klinicke of Torrance, CA.

Funeral services celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held on Friday, July 22, at 11:15a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Mr. John Kidd officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Shane Moon, Derrick Moon, Chad Willoughby, Sam Lyons, Connor Page, Clay Page, and Mark Wade honored as pallbearers.

The family is at the residence of Darrell and Barbara Moon, Indian Hill Road, and will receive friends on Friday from 10:00-11:00a.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Friends Helping Friends, 1027 Micliff Drive, Elberton, GA 30635.
