Brandon Newton

Mr. Carl ‘Brandon’ “Poke” Newton, 34, of Cox Road, Calhoun Falls, SC, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019, in Greenwood.

Brandon was born in Abbeville on January 14, 1985, son of Carl ‘Julian’ Newton and the late Betty ‘June’ Moore Garner. He was a 2003 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School and attended the welding program at Piedmont Technical College. Brandon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was happiest when spending time with his boys, who were the lights of his life.

He is survived his father, Julian, he is survived by his sons: Carl William Newton and Carl Avery Newton; brother, Adam and Holly Smith; niece, Lexi Smith; nephew, Mason Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl and Burns Newton, L.M. and Macon Carroll, and Shirley Carroll Moore.

The family will receive friends at Faith Harvest Fellowship from 12:30-1:45p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Funeral services celebrating his life will follow at 2 o’clock with the Revs. W. Michael Ford and John Todd officiating. Interment will follow in Latimer Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
