Mrs. Brenda Rachel Brooks Parham, 83, of Nickville Road, Elberton, wife of 62 years to the late Earnest Truitt "Earnie" Parham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at her residence with her family at her side.
Brenda and her twin sister, Linda Ruth, were born on May 23, 1941, in Oglethorpe County, joining three older brothers and completing the family of Lewis Henry Brooks and Hilda Rachel Norman Brooks. After the deaths of her parents at a young age, the family was raised by grandparents, Lloyd and Hassie Hall Brooks.
She was a 1959 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School, and married her husband Earnie one day before graduating. Brenda worked at Harper Motor Lines and Elbert County Tax Office, but is most remembered for her 38 years of service to Pinnacle Bank where she worked as a teller. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was active as long as her health permitted.
Brenda loved Elvis and diet coke as well as watching Georgia and Kansas City Chiefs football, but most importantly she loved her family. She never missed an opportunity to cook a favorite meal or help them in any way possible. - her chocolate pie was a favorite to most everyone. Her delight in life was helping care for her "sunshine", Michael, who was the apple of his Nana's eyes.
Mrs. Parham is survived by her daughter, Carol (Randy) Rice of Elberton; son, Mitch (Janet) Parham of Watkinsville; daughter, Susan (Clay) Booth of Elberton; grandson, Michael Miller of Elberton; sisters-in-law: Anna Merle Parham, Betty Jean Parham, Estelle Parham, and Betty Joyce Parham; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, parents, and sister, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Gene Brooks, Ronald Brooks, and Dennis Brooks.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Friday, December 13, from 9:30a.m. - 10:45a.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by the Rev. Tim Adams.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Edward Brooks, Mike Brooks, Brian Brooks, Ray Brooks, Tim Parham, Glenn Parham, Bruce Parham, and Greg Yarbrough honored as pallbearers.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc., 1027 Micliff Drive, Elberton, GA 30635.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to caregivers Christine Heard, Robin Akin, Barbara Biggs, Chrystal Rucker, and Brenda Heard for their dedication and care given to Mrs. Parham.
