Brian Jerry Turner

Mr. Brian Jerry Turner, 58, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospice House with his family at his side. Brian was born in Elberton to Gwen Herring Turner and the late Jerry M. Turner.In addition to his father, Brian was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Timms Turner, and his brother, Gregory Mark Turner, Sr.Brian was part owner and recently retired from Turner Concrete Company & Quality Concrete Block Company.Brian was a member of Philomathea Lodge #25 and Rock Branch Baptist Church. Brian was an avid lover of blues music.Friends and family could always count on Brian’s sense of humor and wit to lighten the mood. Brian is survived by his mother, Gwen Turner; his sister, Kathy Banks and her husband, Stephen; nephews: Mark Turner, Turner Banks, and Brooks Banks; nieces: Amber Dixon and her husband Ric, and Eliza Banks; his sister-in-law, Melinda Turner; a great-nephew, Beckett Dixon; and a host of cousins and friends. Brian was also fondly remembered as “Papa Brian” by Cade and Nova Welborn. A service to celebrate Mr. Turner’s life was held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church, with Pastor Kevin Vaughn officiating and Mr. David Lovinggood as a special speaker.Visitation began at 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Barry Turner, Mickey Davenport, David Lovinggood, Zeno Thomas, Chris Wilson, and Winston Adams. Flowers were graciously accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to TJ & Friends Foundation at P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.The family received friends at the home of Mrs. Gwen Turner at 1261 Crestview Road, Elberton. Arrangements for Mr. Brian Jerry Turner were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
