Buster W. Simmons

Buster W. Simmons, 87, of 1294 Jones Ferry Road, Elberton, husband of Mary Frances Lester Simmons passed away Tuesday December 13, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Madison County, June 6, 1924 to the late John David Simmons and Clara Lively Simmons. He was a member of Doves Creek Baptist Church and a retired farmer. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Mary Frances Lester Simmons, sisters Delree Turner, Lillian Brown, and Elise Brown all of Conyers, GA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Friday December 16, at 2PM in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Bill Simmons, Alvin Simmons, Russell Butler, James Drake, Louis Tyler, Walter McNeely, and Tony Warren serving as pallbearers. The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2PM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers to make memorials in his honor to Doves Creek Baptist Church, 1971 Athens Highway Elberton, GA 30635.
