Carol Elizabeth Gunter Walters

Mrs. Carol Elizabeth Gunter Walters, 81, of Elberton, wife of the late Bob Walters, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at PruittHealth at Spring Valley.


Carol was born in Elberton on August 6, 1941, the eldest child and only daughter of the late James Howard “Zeke”” Gunter and Mazelle Locke Gunter. She was a 1959 graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Walters worked in accounting at Elbert Memorial Hospital for many years, retired from Pinnacle Bank as a Customer Service Representative. She enjoyed reading, doing word searches, and playing bingo.


Survivors include her sons: Mike Walters and his wife Kathy and James Walters and his wife Jan, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Nick and Jessica Fleischer, Amanda and Gordon Hendry, Amy and Brian McIntosh, Lynsey and Josh Stokes, Nathan Walters and Katie, and Jilly Walters; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.


In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Steve Gunter, Larry Gunter, and Dennis Gunter.


The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.


Funeral services celebrating Carol’s life will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Dan Fernandez officiating. Pallbearers will include Gordon Hendry, Josh Stokes, Nathan Walters, Nick Fleischer, Brian McIntosh, Daniel McIntosh, and Dalton McIntosh.


Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Northside Baptist Church, 384 North Oliver Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
