Carol Moore Johnson, 91, of Anderson, S.C., wife of the late Rev. H. Lawrence Johnson, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her daughter's home in Fayetteville, N.C.   

Born in Elberton, Georgia, on June 8, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John Hillard Moore and the late Sara Elizabeth “Lizzie” Owens Moore.   Carol graduated as the Salutatorian Honor Graduate of Hart County High School in Hartwell, Ga., and earned her A.A. Degree from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia in practical nursing.   

She worked as an LPN at Elbert County Hospital in Elberton, Ga., but also as a Telephone Operator and Cost Accountant Clerk for Southern Bell in Atlanta. She also did bookkeeping for The Granite City Bank in Elberton.   

He greatest service was being a pastor’s wife. She served in many positions where her husband, the late Rev. Henry Lawrence Johnson, pastored. She loved serving The Lord and encouraging others in their Christian Walk. She was spoken of as having a gift of encouragement. For over 23 years, she served in various offices of the Women’s Ministries of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in the state of Georgia and South Carolina, including serving as the President of the Georgia Women’s Ministries.   

She in survived by her children, Marsha Johnson Tafoya (Hector), of Fayetteville, N.C., and Brent Lawrence Johnson (Leigh), of Lexington, S.C., grandchildren, Amber Smith (Todd), Autumn Jenkins (Michael), Ashlan Thibodeaux (Jonathan), Apryl Gleason (Scott), Josh Holland (Lia), Nick Holland, and Elin Johnson, as well as 12 great-grandchildren.   

She is also survived by her siblings, Merritt Moore of Berkeley Lake, Ga., and Linda Vaught (E.J.) of Radford, Va.  

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Alman Moore and Herman Moore, her sisters, Edna Bottian, Eula Craft and Sue McMullan, as well as her half-brothers, Ralph Moore, Floyd Moore, George Moore, and Hoyt Moore, and her half-sisters, Gladys Smith, Eunice Ellis, Flora Vickery, and Elease Prince.   A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Glenn St., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Dr. Brent Lollis will officiate.   The family will receive friends, in the church sanctuary, prior to the service, from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.   A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Colbert Cemetery in Colbert, Ga.   A special remembrance, or message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.standardfuneralcenter.com   THE STANDARD CREMATION & FUNERAL CENTER, ANDERSON, S.C.
