Mrs. Lettie Carolyn Dixon Howell, 87, of Elberton, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Magnolia Estates in Elberton, GA.
Born on October 28, 1936 in Dewy Rose, GA, she was the daughter of the late Riley Fremon Dixon and Nancy Andrews Dixon. Mrs. Howell worked for Pinnacle Bank. She was a former member of the Francis Asbury Methodist Church, where she served on several committees, and a current member of the Elberton First Methodist Church, where she was a member of the WMU & Mary Freeman Sunday School class. Carolyn was known for taking food to families in need, welcoming new families to the community, and driving her friends to their appointments. She also loved her birds, especially red birds.
Left to carry on her legacy of love and caring spirit are her beloved daughters, Rhonda Mills (Neal) of Gray and Renee Giannoni (David) of Elberton. Her pride and joy were grandchildren, Drew Mills of Forest City, NC, Brent Mills (Lauren) and Hannah Mills of Gray, Josh Giannoni of Nashville, TN, and Brandon Giannoni of Elberton; her great-grandchildren: Harper and Landon Mills of Gray; and she is survived by her brother: Parker Dixon of Refugio, Mrs. Howell is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years: Ray Howell.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Elberton First Methodist Church. Other times, the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Howell will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Elberton First Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Burial will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery.
Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the Ramp Ministry Fund c/o First Baptist Church of Elberton, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
The family would like to thank her home caregivers, Magnolia Estates, Bristol Hospice, and her many friends for their love and care over the past months.
