Cecil Baker

Mr. George Cecil Baker, 87, of Double Branches Rd., Elberton husband of Doris Adams Baker passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Baker was born April 19, 1929 in Atlanta, GA to E.J. Baker and Doris Broadwell Baker. He was a very active member of Coldwater United Methodist Church until his declined health due from a tractor accident.

Cecil graduated from Tech High in Atlanta, GA where he was a outstanding football player, after graduating he joined the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the City of Atlanta where he was a fireman. He was a avid hunter where he won a Grand National Championship in Coon Hunting. He enjoyed training and working with hunting dogs, but his greatest love was his family and home.

Survivors include his wife Doris Adams Baker; son and daughter-in-law Ben and Suann Baker of Elberton, GA: daughter and son-in-law Polly and Wayne Ward of Elberton, GA; siblings and their spouses: Ralph and Barbara Baker of Dallas, GA, Virginia Breedlove of Dallas, GA, Larry Baker of Dallas, GA, Paul and Claire Baker of Carrollton, GA and Terry and Beverly Baker of Covington, GA; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held 11AM, Friday December 30 at Coldwater United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM just prior to the service at Coldwater United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested to please make memorials in his honor to Coldwater United Methodist Church.
