Charles Eugene Johnson

Mr. Charles Eugene Johnson, 64, of Elberton, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Mr. Johnson was born in Virginia on May 19, 1958, son of the late Thomas Eugene “Tommy” Johnson and Laura ‘Rebecca’ Brown Johnson. Charles worked at WestPoint in Calhoun Falls as a fixer and retired from Bubba Foods as a machine operator. In his younger years, he enjoyed dirt track racing.

A jack-of-all trades, Charles could fix absolutely anything. He enjoyed construction work and was very mechanically inclined. Charles will be remembered for using his talents to work on motors of all kinds and extending a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, “Papa” loved his family more than anything.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Marie Buroway Johnson; children: Chris Johnson and his wife Holly and Jennifer Allen, all of Elberton; step-daughter, Tina Ann Teasley of Elberton; caretaker and mother of his children, Kim O. Jones; brother, Robin Johnson of Elberton; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Mr. Johnson’s life will be held on Friday, March 17, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
