Charles Thomas " Tom " Sanders Jr., 67, of 1135 Sutton Way Elberton GA., husband of Karen Ridgeway Sanders died Thursday June 3, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Elbert County, he was a son of the late Charles Thomas Sanders Sr., and Josephine Lunsford Sanders. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, member of Elberton Elk's Club, served 6 years National Guard, and retired from Martian-Marietta Materials in Auburn GA. Survivors include wife Karen Ridgeway Sanders of Elberton GA., daughters Juli Hall of Pensacola Fl., Layla Sanders of the home., sons Jason Sanders of Elberton Ga., Russ Sanders of Roswell GA., sister Fleta Bishop of Elberton GA., brother Kenneth Sanders of Elberton GA., and 5 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Vince Sanders. Funeral services will be held Sunday June 6, at 3 PM at the Elberton First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill's Memorial Park Elberton. The family will be at 1051 Ruckersville Road and will receive friends from 2-3 PM just prior to the services in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Pallbearers: Eric Berryman, Kenneth Sanders, Jon Tomlin, Phil Berryman, Stephen Ridgeway, Chris Bryant. Flowers are optional or memorials may be to a charity of one's choice.
