Mr. Charles Lewis Wallis, 52, of Oak Street, Elberton, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at his residence.
Charles was born in Anderson, SC on December 21, 1971, son of the late Thomas Edgus Wallis and Rosemary Smith Wallis, and step-son of the late Patricia Ann Winchester Crenshaw Wallis. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton. Charles is mostly known from his career in the grocery industry, having started his career at Bi-Lo Grocery Store and presently working at Ingles Market where he was the manager of frozen foods. He was an avid sports fan. Charles will be remembered for his kind heart, sweet smile, and his willingness to always extend a helping hand.
Survivors include his uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Rochelle Wallis of Calhoun Falls, SC; special friend, Kathrina Hudson and her family, all of whom were very special to Charles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Charles will lie in state on Friday, August 9, from 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Charles’s life will be conducted on Saturday, August 10, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
