Mr. Charles Lindy Worley, Sr., 84, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his home. Mr. Worley was born in Elberton to the late Dunston Baker & Lola Hall Worley. He and his wife, Mary DeWitt Worley, had celebrated 57 years of marriage. Lindy Worley, with the Lord’s blessings was a self made man. He started working as a sandblaster for his brothers Speed, D. B. and Ward, then he branched out starting his own sandblasting business. Later on he founded and incorporated Superior Granite Company in 1965. Lindy was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Lindy was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He golfed as long as he could and he hunted walking with crutches and Mary carried his gun. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son; Charles L. (Lisa) Worley, Jr., three daughters; Marianne (Ronny) Whitmire, Joyce (Barry) Dye, Janet (Allen) Wilder, a brother; Gene T. (Shirley) Worley, ten Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a faithful friend of the family; James Henry Heard. A service to celebrate Mr. Worley’s life will be Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Reverend Alvin Taylor officiating.Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, April 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Neal Worley, Edgar “Tubby” Worley, James Henry Heard, Robert Jr. “Bud” Heard, Bobby Worley and Mike Little will be serving as pallbearers.
