Christopher “Old Man” Connor, age 63, of Martinez, entered into rest on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Doctors Hospital following injuries sustained doing what he loved- riding his motorcycle.
Old Man was born near Washington, DC to the late Brady Connor and Shirley Foster Connor. Never having met a stranger, trips to Kroger lasted longer for him than for most but were always necessary when he ran out of peanuts for his pet squirrels. Although Old Man wasn’t always cheerful about it, he never failed to meet the needs of his family and friends. It might cost you, but he would give you the shirt off his back. Skilled at working with his hands, he could fix or build anything. Due to his giving nature, it is no surprise that his family chose Old Man to be a donor. One donor can improve more than 75 lives, and his legacy of generosity did not end at his death.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jackie Connor; two children, Bryan Connor (Amber) of Evans and Amanda Connor of Augusta; and his mother in love, Ruth “Nanny” Stein of Martinez. Pop Pop’s greatest joys were his two grandsons, Cayden and Jaxon.
A celebration of life service took place at 3:00 P.M. Friday at Journey Community Church, 4798 Hardy McManus Road, with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. The family requested that everyone dress casually in Harley attire or bright colors. The family received friends at their home following the service.
Old Man took one last ride by motorcycle on Saturday where his cremains were scattered at his favorite fishing spot.
