Christopher Shane Shepherd

December 23, 1972 — June 3, 2022

Christopher Shane Shepherd

Mr. Christopher Shane “Chris” Shepherd, 49, of 232 Liberty Hill Church Road, Hartwell, husband of Mary Lynn “Tootie” Jones Shepherd, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his business in Elberton.

Chris was born in Lawrenceville on December 23, 1972, but lived most of his life in Elberton. He worked in the granite industry all of his life, and was currently the owner/operator of Shepherd Granite Company. He was always willing to help others out - from cutting grass to filing a stranger’s tank with gas, and anything in between.

Above being “Daddy”, his favorite title was “Poppy.” There is absolutely nothing he wouldn’t do for his grandchildren. He was happiest when outdoors surrounded by his family - fishing, camping, sitting around the campfire listening to music, or rigging up the next best waterslide.

Our hearts are broken that Chris has left us, but we take great comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his mother, Martha Jeanette Pless Shepherd, and brother, Timothy Paul Shepherd. Chris’s caring nature and heart of gold will be remembered forever.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Tootie, include his children: Haley Michelle Shepherd Risner and her husband Kyle Risner, Christopher Dalton Shepherd and his wife Miranda Ankerich Shepherd, and Nicole Lynn Shepherd Hastings and her husband Adison Hastings, all of Hartwell; grandchildren: Landon Shane Risner, Bryson Kyle Risner, Brylan Michael Risner, Maddox Lee Hastings, and Christopher Lincoln Shepherd; sister, Michelle Shepherd Brown and her husband Tommy of Ider, Alabama; father, Clifford Paul Shepherd of Dewy Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, June 13, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Gaines Chapel Emmanuel Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Sunday, June 12, from 6:30-9:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to a college fund set up for Chris’s grandchildren at any Pinnacle Bank Branch or at https://gofund.me/67df27cf.

Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.berryfh.com.
