Claude “Junebug” Fortson, Jr. was born on July 3, 1970, so the best loving parents, Claude and Sheila Jackson Fortson. He was born and raised as the oldest of two children in Elberton. Junebug departed this life on March 11, 2021.
He was a very caring person who would never say no. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in September of 2016. Junebug received his diploma in electricity from Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center in Kentucky. He was a dedicated worker and loved his family very much, and helped raised his two nieces as his own.
He leaves behind his parents, Claude and Sheila Jackson Fortson of Elberton; one sister, Felicia and Derrick Huff of Athens; two nieces: Kayla Huff and Kenzie Huff, both of Athens; grandmother, Alberta Fortson of Elberton; grandfather, Paul Edmond of Gainesville; five aunts: Bernice Wilkerson, Thelma Fortson and Tommy Turman, Beverly Owen, Cathy Edmond, and Gloria Williams; five uncles: Johnny Fortson, James Jackson, Paul Edmond, Jr., Terry Edmond, and Darrell Edmond; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 14, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
