Mrs. Clyde Dixon Pounds, 98, of Elberton, formerly of Stone Mountain, wife of the late John William "J.W." Pounds, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Spring Valley Healthcare Center. Mrs. Pounds was born in Elbert County on June 6, 1915, to the late George and Cynthia Snellings Dixon. She was retired from the accounting department at General Electric and was a member of Stone Mountain United Methodist Church. She was the first woman bus driver to serve in Elbert County and was also the first woman to serve on the Grand Jury for Elbert County. She was loved by many and loved in return. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Edna George Parham; daughter-in-law, Brenda W. Rayle; grandchildren, Mandy and John Williams, Dixie and David McCarty, and Heath and Stacey Rayle, all of Elberton; and several great-grandchildren. Graveside services celebrating her life were held on Saturday, May 3, in Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Joe Watson officiating.
