Clyde Findley Moon, Jr.

Mr. Clyde Findley Moon, Jr., 81, of Long Avenue, Elberton, husband of Brenda Herring Moon, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Moon was born in Elberton on October 31, 1939, son of the late Clyde Findley “Jack” Moon, Sr. and Willene Thomason Moon. In June 1960, he married the love of his life, Brenda Herring. Clyde served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. A devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for 58 years, he served as a Deacon, an Elder, and was the founder of the Clyde’s Caravan. He was a retired foreman from the granite industry.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; son, Barry (Sherri Durham) Moon of Hartwell; daughter, Kim (Walter Zimmerman) Moon of Loganville; and sister, Juanita Johnson of Elberton. He loved his grandchildren dearly and they loved him in return: Carson Moon of Elberton, Amelia Moon of Athens, Colton Moon of Athens, Dylan (Stephanie) Sartain of N. Augusta, SC, Meredith (Avery White) Sartain of Athens, and Ian Sartain of Loganville; one great-granddaughter, Lainey Alice White and another on the way.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Pauline Brown, Catherine Haynes, and Rosie Boswell.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, December 23, at 2 o’clock at Calvary Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Randall Haynes, Pete Haynes, Jeffrey Boswell, James Walters, Ryan Wright, and Tom Craft honored as pallbearers.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Calvary Presbyterian Church from 1:00-1:45p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
