Charles Colton Rousey

Mr. Charles 'Colton' Rousey, age 14, of Bakers Ferry Road, Elberton, GA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Prisma Health Children's Hospital in Greenville, SC, following a four-wheeler accident earlier in the week.

Colton was born in Royston, GA on August 20, 2009, son of Tailor Nicole Rousey and Joel Randolph “Randy” Hurst, Jr. He was presently an 8th grade student at Elbert County Middle School. Colton was always pleasant to be around - his big smile, good humor, and polite manners will be remembered forever.

A country boy at heart, Colton was all boy. He loved shooting guns and hunting of any kind, especially deer, turkey, and hog, and loved fishing with his Papa. He enjoyed bull riding, horse back riding, baseball, and especially riding his four wheeler. Colton enjoyed showing heifers with the Elbert County FFA Dairy team. He was also a member of the Elbert County 4-H Shotgun Team and was proud to have qualified for the Georgia 4-H Modified Trap State Match. Above all, he loved his family dearly. He never missed an opportunity to be with his little brothers, and always took care of them.

Surviving are his parents: Tailor and Cody Floyd of Elberton, GA and Randy and Leslie Hurst of Canon, GA; brothers: Weston Floyd of Elberton, GA, Levi Hurst of Canon, GA, and Bryson Hurst of Canon, GA; grandparents: Eric and Charla Rousey of Elberton, GA, Joel and Sue Hurst of Dewy Rose, GA, and Rhonda Floyd of Elberton, GA; great-grandparents: Leroy and Lalia Hurst of Dewy Rose, GA, Crook Rigdon of Elberton, GA and Faye Mills of Elberton, GA; special great-great-aunt and uncle who are like grandparents: Janet and Harry Floyd of Elberton, GA; uncles and aunt: Logan Rousey, Chaz Rousey, and Jason and Dana Floyd; great-uncles: Jimmy Hurst and Jimmy Blakemore; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Colton's life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, at 4:00p.m. at Fortsonia Baptist Church, with the Revs. Douglas Huff and Josh Gibson officiating. Overflow seating will be available in the Fortsonia Faith Center.

Interment will follow in the Fortsonia Community Cemetery with Cruz Floyd, Branson Mills, Dawson Mills, Brantley Smith, Brantley Smith, Hunter Woodall, and Ryker Wright honored as pallbearers. The Elbert County FFA Dairy Team and Elbert County 4-H Shotgun Team will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers are optional and contributions may be made in his memory to Prisma Health Children's Hospital, 701 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family request all attending to wear blue jeans, camo, and boots, just as Colton would have wanted! The family extends their sincerest appreciate to Elbert County EMS, LifeFlight, Prisma Health Children’s Hospital, and to the entire community for the support and care that has been given to them during this tragic time.
