Cynthia Dixon Proto

Cynthia Dixon Proto, 98, of East Haven, CT, died Friday August 22, 2014, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Matthew Albert Proto. Mrs. Proto was born March 6, 1916, in Elberton, GA, daughter of the late James Warren "Wad" Dixon and Martha Smith "Dee" Dixon. She worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass and Harco Laboratory for many years until her retirement. She is preceded in death by three brothers, D.C. Dixon, Dave Dixon, and George Martin Dixon; and three sisters, Anna Bradford, Lucille Saxon, and Jane Ledbetter. She is survived by her son, Michael and Sally Proto of Chester, MD; her sisters, Martha D. "Bay" and Randall Gunter and Sarah Johnson of Elberton; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 – 10 am at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven.
