Davis ‘Lanier’ Anderson, 69, of 4 Peachtree Street, formerly of Athens Highway, Elberton, husband of Annie Way Kirby Anderson and the late Diane Moore Anderson, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Anderson was born in Elbert County, March 23, 1943, to the late Harry Herbert and Addie Louise Field Anderson. Lanier was a retired owner of Anderson Brothers Chevron Station and a retired insurance salesman. He was a member and past deacon of Doves Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Annie Way Kirby Anderson; children, Vernon Anderson, Patti and Rickey Johnson, Barry and Tenna Anderson, all of Elberton, Kristi Bradford of Washington, Scott and Taffy Kirby, Todd and Deborah Kirby, and Corey and Jenn Kirby, all of Elberton; twenty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, J.N. "Pete" and Valgene Anderson of Elberton and H. Walton and Carolyn Anderson of Hull; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Friday, March 8, at 3:00PM in the Doves Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Anderson will be placed in the church at 2:00PM to lie in state until the service hour. The family is at the residence, 4 Peachtree Street, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday evening.
