Dallas Melvin Jones

Dallas Melvin Jones, 49, of Athens, formerly of Elberton, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in Clarke County. Born on June 17, 1960 in Elbert County, he was a son of Lucille Brown Wilhite and the late Charlie Melvin Jones; step-father Arthur Douglas Wilhite.In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dwayne Jones. Survivors include daughters, Renee (Jason Hood) Jones of Elberton and Darlene and Curt Jones Gable of Abbeville, SC.; grandson, Logan Gable; granddaughters, Stephanie and Hannah Gable, Danielle French, and Miya Hood; mother and stepfather, Lucille and Arthur Douglas Wilhite; and sisters and brother-in-law, Robin W. Bonds of Elberton and Lisa and Mike Johnson of Calhoun Falls, SC.Several other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 3PM from the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home. Reverend Wayne Tyler will officiate and burial will follow the service in Gaines Chapel Cemetery in Hartwell. The family will receive friends from 2-3PM Saturday just prior to the service at Hicks Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Douglas and Lucille Wilhite, 1055 Country Manor Lane in Elberton. Flowers will be accepted. Pallbearers will include Roger Brown, William Brown, Kenneth Brown, Derek Johnson, Scott Bonds, Patrick Burton, and Tony French. Arrangements for Dallas Melvin Jones are in the care of the Hicks Funeral Home of Elberton.
