Danny Eugene Blackmon, Sr.

Danny Eugene Blackmon, Sr., of Dearing, Georgia, former resident of Elberton, husband of Mary Becky Blackmon, entered into rest Wednesday, February 08, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church in Thomson with the Rev. Allen Holbrook officiating. Interment will be in South Harlem Memorial Gardens in Harlem with his nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM at Starling Funeral Home, Highway 78 in Harlem, Georgia. Danny was born in Elberton to the late Milton and Myrtle Blackmon. He was a repairman for Pollock Office Machine Company. Mr. Blackmon was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Elberton and attended New Hope Baptist Church. Family members include his wife, Mary Becky Blackmon; son Danny Eugene, Jr. and Bobbie Blackmon, Jr., Thomson; daughter, Tina Marie Newman and Shawn Langford, Thomson; three sisters, Shirley and Joel Anderson, Elberton, Martha Sue and Marshall King, Carlton, and Elaine and Dewey McNair, Elberton; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Regina Jefferson; and brothers, Bill Blackmon, Milton Blackmon, Frank Blackmon, and Russell Blackmon.
