Darrell Bailey Floyd

Mr. Darrell Bailey Floyd, 70, of Sanders Road, Dewy Rose, husband of 50 years to Jean Norman Floyd, died peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

Darrell was born in Elberton on June 9, 1948, son of the late Walter Junius “Junior” Floyd and Jessie Lee Coile Floyd. He was a 1968 graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of Liberty Congregational Church. He began work as a sandblaster in the granite industry at the age of 17 and worked in that capacity until his retirement. Darrell was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest in the woods hunting or cutting wood.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; son, Steven “Shack” Floyd of Dewy Rose; grandson, Chan Floyd; brother and sister-in-law, Adrian and Lisa Floyd of Elberton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Faye and Don Harris of Augusta; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Rabun Floyd and Sidney Floyd.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 17, at 3 o’clock from the graveside in Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Sunday evening, December 16.
