Mr. Darrell Linn Michelson, age 68, passed away on July 24, 2024, in Bowman, Georgia.
Darrell was born on November 8, 1955, in Britt, IA, to Duane Michelson and Blanche (Eisenman) Michelson. He was a graduate of Britt High School in the Class of 1974. Darrell was proud to play as an offensive lineman on the 1973 State Football Championship Team. Upon graduation from High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines. After his service, he moved to Minneapolis and attended Brown University earning a degree in radio broadcasting and worked for many years at KCPS Radio in Burlington, IA. He later moved to Gainesville, GA to be closer to his family and worked as a senior supervisor at Cargill. Darrell served in the United States Marines as a Lance Corporal and a member of the SWAT team, embodying the Corps' values of honor and commitment. Known for his loving, kind, and generous nature, Darrell was a friend to everyone he met. Darrell enjoyed tinkering with computers and soldering in his spare time, but his favorite moments were those spent with Sarah and his grandchildren. He was of Methodist faith. His life was marked by a deep love for his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Jeanne (Michelson) Shackelford and son-in-law Joshua Shackelford, granddaughters Nevaeh and Gracie Shackelford, and grandsons Riley and Matthew Herrington and Jessie Shackelford; brother, David Michelson, sister Darla (Joe) Schulz; Aunt Sandy Eisenman. He also leaves behind his lifelong partner:Angela Meyer; along with several beloved nieces, nephews and relatives.
In keeping with his wishes, no celebration of life service is planned. Darrell legacy of warmth, dedication, love, and generosity will be missed by all, especially by his loving daughter Sarah and her 5 children.
