David Leonard Pieters, Jr.

David Leonard Pieters, Jr., 81, of 171 Maret Street, Hartwell, husband of Gladys Temple Pieters, passed away Friday evening, December 16, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Bogart. Mr. Pieters was born in West Milford Township, New Jersey, September 18, 1930, to the late David Leonard, Sr. and Oliver Pieters. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Silentia Masonic Lodge #168 in Butler, New Jersey, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Toccoa, a member of the Elks Club in Toccoa, and a member of the Georgia Sheriff's Association. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Gladys Temple Pieters; and three step-sons, Stewart Bond of Townville, South Carolina, David and Dorothy Bond of Hartwell, and Scott and Sharon Bond of Springfield, Missouri. Graveside funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1PM Tuesday, December 20, in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park in Hartwell with the Rev. Bill Hayes officiating. Military honors will be provided by Fort Gordon. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 4-7PM Monday evening. Flowers will be accepted.
